| Four Win In A Row For Lakers Authored by Scott Essman - December 10, 2005 - 7:05 pm
Could this Laker run be for real? Five Lakers scored in double figures on Friday night, leading to a 93-80 win over the Bulls in Chicago. Lamar Odom, Brian Cook, Chris Mihm, Smush Parker, and team leader Kobe Bryant all scored at least ten points, the most balanced Laker offensive attack thus far this season.
Behind Bryant and Odom, Cook - playing in his home state - provided the biggest Laker boost with 16 points, three rebounds and three assists. Bryant led the pack with 23 points, 9 rebounds and 8 assists. Odom added 19 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists.
With the Bulls struggling in the first half, with only 37 total points, the Lakers pulled away, leading by 10. Chicago made it close, scoring 31 in the third quarter to the Lakers 25, but the Lakers dominated the fourth quarter.
So, is this Laker run indicative of their true colors? Is this team finally on track? Consistency seems to be the operative term here. Cook has rarely been as effective, and Odom, Mihm and Parker have been sporadically as good as they were Friday.
Clearly, the next three games are likely to reveal the whole story, with Laker road games in Minnesota tonight, then at Dallas Monday and at Memphis on Wednesday. After the trip, the Lakers return home for three straight before another road trip on Christmas weekend. |
